SUMMARY:
The Nursery Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations within the nursery, including mother stock care, propagation, and vegetative growth phases of cannabis cultivation. This role ensures plant health, genetic integrity, and production efficiency to support a consistent pipeline of high-quality plants for flowering. The Nursery Manager collaborates closely with cultivation leadership, compliance, IPM, post-harvest and facilities teams to uphold facility standards and meet production goals. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of cannabis plant biology, propagation techniques, and team leadership in a regulated environment.
· Oversee daily operations of the nursery department, including mother stock health, clone production, transplanting, and vegetative plant management.
· Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all nursery tasks to ensure consistency, compliance, and plant vitality.
· Maintain genetic accuracy and health of all mother plants through rigorous tracking, pruning, and preventative care.
· Supervise clone production schedules and propagation techniques (e.g., cuttings, rooting environment, media selection) to meet facility demand.
· Ensure proper environmental conditions (light, humidity, temperature, VPD, irrigation, and airflow through both the Priva environmental program and manual manipulations) are maintained in all nursery zones to optimize plant growth.
· Coordinate with the Flowering and Productions Managers to align nursery output with flowering room schedules and strain rotation plans.
· Monitor and manage fertigation schedules, plant nutrition, and transplant timelines in coordination with other departments.
· Implement IPM strategies in coordination with the IPM Team Lead, ensuring early detection and treatment of pests or pathogens within the nursery.
· Oversee a team of Nursery Technicians, including scheduling, task delegation, performance management, training, and cross-training.
· Maintain clean, organized, and biosecure nursery spaces, including sanitation protocols for tools, benches, and equipment.
· Work with the Inventory/Tagging team to track and manage plant inventories using the facility’s seed-to-sale or ERP system, ensuring accurate data entry and compliance with state regulations.
· Conduct regular audits of plant health, production numbers, and labor efficiency to optimize resource allocation.
· Collaborate with compliance staff to ensure all activities meet local and state regulatory requirements, including METRC or other tracking systems.
· Lead training programs for nursery staff focused on best practices in propagation, pruning, plant health assessments, and SOP compliance.
· Prepare reports and updates for management, related to plant health, clone success rate, and veg room performance.
· Participate in strategic planning for genetic rotation, pheno hunts, or R&D trials in collaboration with the leadership team.
· Executes Ad Hoc Projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, lifting, walking, standing, some bending/crouching, stooping, stretching, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
· Must be able to stand for extended periods while maintaining focus.
· Must be able to detect product issues, such as spider mite, powdery mildew, and/or botrytis.
· Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance) and must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with plants and products.
· Ability to walk on uneven terrain.
· Work is performed inside greenhouse facilities exposed to temperatures ranging above a constant 75°F.
· Work is subject to weather conditions, including rain and extreme hot or cold temperatures.
· Work is performed in a fast-paced cannabis grow location.
· May require working rotating shifts with varied hours/day, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
· Periodic travel may be required for training purposes, purchasing materials and equipment and required meetings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in Business or other relevant field or equivalent life experience.
· Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
· Quality assurance, quality control with good manufacturing practices (GMP).
· Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and intermediate accounting and math skills.
· Ability to anticipate and correct potential problems by regularly assessing and updating protocols.
· Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
· Must be process driven, self-motivated, able to develop and work as part of a team and possess strong management, organizational and communication skills.
· Must be a skilled problem solver and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.), software, Google Spreadsheet, and Google Docs.
· Must be a minimum of 21 years of age per state regulations and pass a criminal background check.
