To qualify for this role, you should have: WordPress Expertise : Deep knowledge of theme structure, template hierarchy, custom post meta, the block editor, and best practices like data sanitization and internationalization. Custom Development Skills : Ability to build custom blocks, extend existing ones, and write plugins from scratch. Performance Optimization : Experience analyzing and resolving performance issues, especially those tied to Google’s Core Web Vitals. Troubleshooting & Debugging: Strong analytical skills for diagnosing complex issues across the WordPress stack, from PHP errors and database queries to JavaScript conflicts and server-side problems. Front-End Skills : Proficiency in JavaScript (React and jQuery), PHP, HTML, and Sass. Tool Proficiency : Familiarity with Git version control (Gitflow branching), command-line tools, and build processes (Gulp/Webpack). WooCommerce Ecosystem : Knowledge of WooCommerce and its ecosystem. Collaboration : Experience documenting work and ensuring projects are ready for team collaboration. Technical Infrastructure : Familiarity with tools like MariaDB, Nginx, Redis, and Cloudflare. Design-to-Code Mastery : Competence in translating Figma designs into responsive, high-quality WordPress themes. WHAT YOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE As a developer at SiteCare, your day-to-day work is diverse and rewarding. Expect to: Work on 1–4 tasks daily, depending on complexity, including feature development, Core Web Vitals optimization, advanced troubleshooting, and Figma-to-WordPress builds. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results for our clients. Solve complex problems with critical thinking and creativity. WordPress-Specific : The block editor (Gutenberg), Advanced Custom Fields, Elementor, WooCommerce, WP Rocket, and more. Local Development Tools : Local, DevKinsta. Server Technologies : Cloudflare, MariaDB/MySQL, Nginx/Apache, Redis.
