WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join a critical modernization initiative for a leading mortgage provider. This is a unique opportunity to support one of the industry’s most transformative projects as it moves from legacy platforms to modern data architecture. The ideal candidate has strong SQL skills, experience with mortgage or securities data, and the ability to work across technical and business teams to ensure data continuity and readiness. They should reside in the local Tysons Corner area and be comfortable going onsite up to 3 days a week as needed.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Reporting to our Resource Manager, as a Full-Time Specialist on our team, you will play a key role in tracing and analyzing data from both legacy and modern systems, enabling stakeholder readiness and continuity through the transition. You will validate data transformation logic, support internal teams with new data schemas, and communicate technical insights in a clear and actionable manner. Your work will directly impact the successful adoption of a next-generation data platform for a top-tier financial institution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong SQL skills for data querying, transformation, and validation • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting • Experience with loan data, GSEs, or mortgage-backed securities (MBS) • Proven ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail • Experience working in fast-paced, enterprise environments • Experience supporting data transformation or migration projects • Familiarity with XML and JSON data formats is preferred. • Proficiency in Python and scripting for data manipulation is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Analyze and interpret data across legacy and modern repositories • Perform forensic data analysis to trace lineage and understand transformation logic • Translate and document data transformation logic for accuracy and transparency • Write, optimize, and explain complex SQL queries for data extraction and validation • Utilize Excel and scripting tools (e.g., Python) to manipulate and automate data processes • Interpret structured data formats, including JSON and XML • Support internal teams (e.g., Finance) with new data schema adoption • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and data teams to align data requirements
