Overview:

A growing real estate investment firm is seeking an experienced property accountant to join its finance team. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records for a portfolio of real estate assets, ensuring timely and compliant reporting, and supporting both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting packages for real estate assets
• Manage day-to-day accounting tasks including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger maintenance
• Reconcile bank accounts and internal ledgers; maintain detailed supporting schedules for key financial items
• Record journal entries for both cash and accrual basis activity related to real estate operations
• Track lease obligations, rent collections, and property-level expenses and accruals
• Assist with internal and external reporting, including support for audits, tax filings, and lender requests
• Support the preparation of CAM reconciliations in accordance with lease terms
• Ensure accounting procedures align with relevant agreements, accounting standards, and industry best practices
• Collaborate with property management and finance teams to resolve accounting-related issues

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• 3+ years of accounting experience (real estate industry experience preferred but not required)
• Solid understanding of accrual accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proficiency with real estate or property accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, etc.)
• Advanced Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
