Salary: $65-$85/hr

Clinical Risk Manager:

Our client is seeking a Clinical Risk Manager to lead risk management activities across inpatient and outpatient care settings. This role is responsible for identifying and addressing potential organizational exposures, supporting patient safety, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The ideal candidate will combine strong clinical or healthcare knowledge with analytical, communication, and leadership skills to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

This role is onsite in Springfield, Oregon.

Clinical Risk Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee risk identification, assessment, investigation, and mitigation strategies across assigned facilities.
  • Respond to incidents, potential claims, and patient grievances by conducting reviews, gathering documentation, and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Partner with clinical teams, safety committees, and leadership to manage serious patient events, sentinel events, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Analyze risk and variance data to identify trends, recommend interventions, and report findings to senior leadership.
  • Serve as a representative on safety, quality, and ethics committees, providing risk management expertise.
  • Develop and deliver risk-related training, education, and tools to support leaders, staff, and community-based partners.
  • Collaborate on proactive initiatives such as FMEAs, RCAs, and compliance reviews to reduce organizational exposure.
  • Provide guidance for new services, programs, or equipment to ensure enterprise risk prevention.
  • Participate in rotating on-call coverage as part of the risk management team.

Clinical Risk Manager Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, nursing, business, computer science, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical risk management.
  • Certification in Healthcare Risk Management (CHRM) required within 18 months of hire.
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation requirements (e.g., CMS Conditions of Participation, EMTALA, HIPAA, OSHA).
  • Proficiency with MS Office and strong skills in data analysis, report preparation, and statistical interpretation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, staff, and leadership.
  • Flexible availability, including participation in an on-call rotation.
