Title: Bar Manager
Location: The Mulberry — Sawtelle Blvd, West Los Angeles, CA
Salary: $70,000–$75,000/year (commensurate with experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Schedule: 45–55 hours/week

Opening October 2025 in the heart of Sawtelle, The Mulberry is a modern Korean American restaurant reimagining the neighborhood bistro. Our opening team brings deep culinary and ops pedigree from Benu, Marea, Daniel, French Laundry, abc Jean-Georges, 53 at MoMA, and the world of Anthony Bourdain.

Our menu blends Korean heritage with precise technique and seasonal California ingredients, emphasizing fermentation, fire, and flavor. Dishes are playful yet grounded, honoring tradition while offering bold new interpretations of Korean American comfort food.

The dining room, designed in collaboration with Matt Winter, evokes swanky elegance and warm hospitality. Guests can expect a full bar, a curated wine list, and a standout pastry program.

We are hiring now in preparation for our opening, with training and onboarding beginning in September 2025.

• Lead, train, and supervise bar staff, ensuring professionalism, efficiency, and teamwork.
• Develop and maintain a beverage program that balances classics with creativity, highlighting seasonal ingredients, non-alcoholic options, and The Mulberry’s Korean inspiration.
• Be a visible leader on the floor — engaging guests, supporting servers and bartenders, and ensuring seamless, elevated service.
• Collaborate with the management team on hiring, scheduling, staff performance, and overall operational needs.
• Conduct regular line checks to ensure bar and FOH stations are stocked, organized, and compliant with safety and quality standards.
• Manage bar operations including ordering, receiving, inventory, vendor relationships, and cost controls.
• Ensure consistent preparation and presentation of drinks according to established recipes, techniques, and quality standards.
• Oversee cleanliness, organization and functionality of the bar area, equipment, glassware, and tools
• Uphold hospitality standards and coach staff through pre-shift meetings, tastings, and ongoing training.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding the service of alcohol.
• Monitor beverage costs and financial performance, contributing to the restaurant’s overall success.
• Model The Mulberry’s culture of professionalism, respect, and hospitality.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when needed, running service and overseeing both the dining room and bar in the GM’s absence.

• 2–3 years of management experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant or bar.
• Proven ability to lead service on the floor and manage FOH teams, not just bar operations.
• Strong mixology background with creativity and technical expertise in cocktails, wine, and beer.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills; able to coach, mentor, and motivate staff.
• Passion for hospitality, with the ability to connect with guests and build loyalty.
• Polished personal presentation and professional demeanor.
• Valid California RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) Certification and Food Handler’s Certification required.
• Sommelier training or advanced wine/spirits knowledge a plus.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation & Benefits
We are a non-tipping establishment with a unique bonus system designed to reward leadership and team success.
